Question: What do all these influential archetypes have in common?
Answer: A confidence mindset.
Confidence is key to standing up and standing out. This applies whether you’re doing a presentation, leading a team, networking, dating, or simply speaking up in everyday social situations. People with celebrity energy have the willingness to stick their necks out before they know it to be safe.
I know you have confidence lapses, and, in some areas you have no confidence to even begin with. That’s ok, that’s normal! As humans we are ever evolving – you can level up (in big and small ways) until you draw that final death rattle.
Your biggest obstacle to this is your own mind, with its insistence to stay safe. Alert! The Comfort Zone has been compromised!!! Now your brain starts to pump out stress chemicals which spurs the emotions that prevent you from making even the first move.
1. Your thoughts directly influence which chemicals your brain releases.
2. These shape your feelings…
3. And those feelings inform your actions.
That’s why a low-confidence mental habit can be like an ear-worm – a song you can’t get out of your head – but instead of 3 minutes, it’s a loop playing on repeat.
But here comes the good news!

YOU CAN ELEVATE YOUR MIND AND MOOD WITH MUSIC
Our brain chemicals aren’t random. The brain is constantly rewiring itself in response to new experiences, which means we can create inner playlists that serve our expansion. Your thoughts are like songs and you are the DJ! You get to choose the tracks you want to play.
Your brain has an in-built ability to remix those well-worn tracks into new thoughts and behaviors. You CAN learn to choose the thoughts you think. This is called neuroplasticity. The science of changing your mind.
Of course intrusive thoughts will come. Sometimes they are overwhelming! We need to process those, not push them down. It does not serve your mental health to be rigidly observant and self-judgmental. But for the most part, with awareness, practice, and patience, you will embrace the power to change your tune.
I have learned to turn down the volume when I catch my head buzzing, as if Rachmaninoff’s Flight of The Bumble Bee is grooving in there. I can shake off the agitation of those old, well-worn tracks playing in my head – and pump up the songs that strengthen me.
Music is the ultimate mood-hack! It can make you feel like a rock star or an athlete running onto the field. Instead of listening to the (90% bad) news or drowning in mental chatter, listen to upbeat songs that help you to focus your mind on what you CAN do.
And there is a lot.
Here is a list of songs you can use to pump up your confidence. Go ahead and create a set-list, starting with one or more of the below…
this blog is brilliantly received!
But First, Focus.
Let’s take a second to de-stress.
- Drop your shoulders if you need to.
Unclench your jaw if it’s tight.
Relax your grip on that mouse or mug.
Shake it off. Now you are ready to go-go 🙂
